Apple announced an updated iPad and more educational initiatives on their front for schools. Here is my take on it all. I'll take this article by Business Insider even further. We've seen it all throughout these years. From the Jordan brand to Apple, in the technology category, it all started with the iPhone and was created with features like iMessage. It's the creation of classism with technology. The elitist theory in our society that "If you don't have an iPhone, you don't have an iPhone". It's this mentality that not only causes a disrupt in denying many people the access of cutting-edge technology but the placement of classism.
I honestly can see these iPads for Education "deals" being sold to these Ivy League charter schools, who are mainly the only ones able to afford it. Full disclaimer: Apple makes some amazing products, but they also make an insurmountable about of money. Trying to sell schools on one $500 iPad educational experience (including Pencil and case) on a $12,000 budget per student (a high average, much less for some schools) get's expensive and sounds completely ridiculous. Especially when there are clear cheaper and better alternatives for Schools that could use the cut of costs.
