|Google AMP Stories|
Continuing the famous trend of making Snapchat's "Stories" -- a once beloved feature in the Snapchat app -- disposable and obsolete, Google has announced "AMP Stories". A project that provides content publishers with a mobile-focused format for delivering news and information as visually rich, tap-through stories. Think Snapchat stories, but from credited publishers right within Google Search.
The Google Developers blog states the following:
"Some stories are best told with text while others are best expressed through images and videos. On mobile devices, users browse lots of articles but engage with few in-depth. Images, video, and graphics help publishers to get their readers' attention as quickly as possible and keep them engaged through immersive and easily consumable visual information."
Google teased AMP Stories in early 2017, but we knew this was coming when news got out that Snapchat declined Google's $30 billion offer of acquisition in 2017. As a member of the Google+ Create program, I can see how this is important. And not to throw any shade, but I hope the Google+ Create program gets stirred into being the written compliment to Google AMP Stories. Only time will tell.
